Sunday foodie...

...a string of unsavory situations turned into a sweet foodie day.

Not a very good day today... first of all, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao lost to Timothy Bradley in a badly-judged bout in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Tsk!  The Philippine "National Fist" should really protest that fight!  And Bradley should return that belt - it doesn't belong to him!  What an additional disgrace to the already "ugly" sport!  And, oh, I didn't even see the match live... I was working at the Research Center, figuring out what it takes to give coconut water "eternal freshness"... yes, on a "national sacred day" of a Pacman fight, too! ;)  Oh, well... first things first!  And, the coconut water is worth it - it is.  But that isn't why this post was classified as "Sunday Foodie".

Second of all, rain interrupted the Nofael Djodal Brofight at Roland Garros, and the score froze at 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 2-1, with Rafa Nadal winning the first two sets... and Novak Djokovic losing - umh, his temper - and getting warned for racquet abuse!  A proof that the weather and tension situation at Roland Garros was close to desperate... even the usually cool headed Nadal also lost his temper, complaining to the chair umpire about how heavy and soggy the balls were getting due to the light but steady shower.  And when the match was suspended due to bad weather - finally - the Spaniard gave the match official an earful and walked hurriedly out of the court - bitchfacing to the max - looking eager to disappear before losing it completely and exploding with extreme annoyance.  The #1 and #2 in Men's tennis will be resuming their brofight tomorrow.  Oh, well....

Speaking of bad days and "losing temper"... yeah, my temper was put to the test (again) by another one of those senseless "one-size-fits-all", "blanket policies" (obviously designed by authorities who are too lazy to take time and think in a way that the positions they clutch with all their might require... if they are capable of thinking at all that is!) that are intellectually numbing in their extreme idiocy and absolute despicableness, not to mention having that provocative power-tripping ring about them!  What an antiquated system that only antiquated mindset could conjure up!  Ugh!  These poor institutions, shaped painstakingly by incredible ideals of holy souls, so rich in history and greatness, now left in the hands of unworthy caretakers who obviously have no appreciation and reverence of the history of the institutions they lead (un-lead)... makes me sad... weep, in fact!  But nah... I won't talk about this lengthily here - not worth it.  I would play tennis with soggy balls on clumpy clay with the rain spraying blindingly on my face anytime... even with my historical 7th win on the line, ah, si, si, mi amigo, Rafa!  Yeah, that's how annoyingly bad it was!  *sigh*

But I know that an annoying day like this one could be saved by foodiness... so I opened our fridge and I found a box with this logo...

No hype, just true goodness.

Echague Bakery, hmm.... Haven't heard of it?  I haven't either.  But apparently, my sister and my almost-brother-in-law are a big fan.  He brought the goodie for her (well, and for us in our house - I'm sure. hehe....) to vent about the Pacquiao fight with us, too.  His annoyance was greater than ours because he edited the promotional ad for the Pacquiao fight on TV, so he watched the fight with bigger faith in the sport!  Sorry, almost-bro!  ;)

Going back to the box in the fridge....  What was inside the box was interesting... ube (purple yam) chiffon custard cake.  And it only took a knife's slicing action and a couple of fork actions... and I became a fan of the unknown (to me) bakery!

Light creaminess on light fluffiness... partitioned by flavors.

The cake was so fluffy and light, and surprisingly flavorful.  The custard on top, aaah... it was exquisite in its super smoothness.  How could something so light like that be so smooth, cohesive, and... and creamy???  How is that possible?

Layers of lightness in two texture and flavor varieties.

Obviously, all the wonderful wondering and foodie goodness saved the day.  Thanks almost-brother-in-law! ;)
