"There are genuine concerns and it would be wrong to dismiss all of the condemnation of Washington as hyperbole. Big things are happening in the world and two are of central importance here.- Jonathan Marcus (BBC Diplomatic Correspondence)
"For one thing this is the age of big data, the cloud, and our growing reliance upon machines. Alongside this the technical ability to monitor, store and sift information is also growing exponentially....
"...The other great change is in the international arena. New economic powers are rising."
from the article, "Are US allies really shocked at spying?"
BBC News, 26 October 2013
Yep, I've been reading (and listening to the news) about the alleged US Intelligence 'eavesdropping' on the German Chancellor's, Angela Merkel's, mobile phone. The details being uncovered regarding the alleged 'eavesdropping'/spying on Merkel, analyses of the reach and breadth of US Intelligence based on surfacing details on their activities (not counting the Edward Snowden leaked info), and the comments of experts are really shocking - for common mortals like myself, that is. I'm not sure if this should come as a 'shock' to the US Allies though. 'Cause, c'mon people, to whom do you run when you need "reliable intelligence" report? If the 'reach' of US Intelligence has become hard to imagine for us now... it's because their allies, and all of us, actually, allowed it to grow that much - to a "shocking" phenomenon that it is today. None of anyone's need for infomation warrants such disrespect for someone else's privacy. Therefore, are we going to allow Beijing to grow "intelligence tentacles", too? What do you mean "huh?" ? Don't tell me you didn't see that coming. You knew I was going to ask that! :)
Alright, let's see... what's on in the football world right now? I need some 'beautiful game' to release ugly aggression over. ;)
