| S&T junkies' field day! |
We had a great time joining the Department of Science and Technology's "2012 National Science and Technology Week" at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. The activity's theme was: "Science, Technology and Innovation: Working Together for Growth and Development".
I was fortunate enough to get a "duty" at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) booth on the event's fifth day. Don't let the photos above fool you, I took those when the day was ending, the huge crowd was already gone. Considering it was already the fifth day, it is very reassuring to know that "S&T junkiness" is alive and well in the Philippines! The exhibits were fantastic, from hi-tech electronic stuff to green building models, to agri-related innovation, to process technology whoa-inducing stuff, to biotech huh?-come-again wonders, to food and food-related things - all from different parts of the country. Oh, and I bought cheese making stuff. Hurrah! :)
It rained like mad after we left SMX yesterday evening - Friday the 13th. The streets were all heaving desperately to contain the wild downpour... and the usually 15-20 minute travel time from SMX to the UST Research Center became a three-hour fun exchange of stories between old and new friends! I never thought getting stuck in heavy traffic in flooded streets can be that enjoyable though... I guess it's all about who you're stuck with. :) I thought I'd post something here to remember it by later, and remind myself to join again next time... floods and traffic notwithstanding. :)
